General Dynamics – Bath Iron Works

Bath Iron Works (BIW) is a major United States shipyard located on the Kennebec River in Bath, Maine, founded in 1884 as Bath Iron Works, Limited. Since 1995, Bath Iron Works has been a subsidiary of General Dynamics. It is the fifth-largest defense contractor in the world as of 2008. BIW has built private, commercial, and military vessels, most of which have been ordered by the United States Navy.

My work at BIW is confidential, therefore I cannot share writing or design samples. Please contact me for more details.

BIW Projects

My primary focus at BIW entailed 2D and 3D design as well as technical process and specifications writing for a brand-new class of Navy destroyers, USS Zumwalt (DDG 1000).

USS Zumwalt is a guided missile destroyer of the United States Navy. She is the lead ship of the Zumwalt class and the first ship to be named after Admiral Elmo Zumwalt. Zumwalt has stealth capabilities, having a radar cross-section similar to a fishing boat despite her large size.

On the Hull Outfit team, I designed insulation, furniture foundations, as well as all of the exterior paint markings on the ship, including the ship numbers, helipad, and more, as seen below.

These are select samples of my work. More samples can be provided upon request.
